Fenugreek is also called Trigonelle fenugreek, Trigonelle or Sénégrain. It is the seeds of this herbaceous plant, which are used as a condiment spice.
The seed gives off a very pleasant warm smell, reminiscent of caramel with hints of liquorice. A touch of celeriac, reminiscent of Madras curry. The flavor of the seeds is bitter with a marked taste of celery.
Usage tips
You will use the whole seeds for cooking and reduced to powder for the direct seasoning of your dishes.
Can be used in chutneys, terrines, in stews, meat or fish, in cream sauces, vegetables, potatoes, spinach and works wonders in tomato-based sauces, giving them an indescribable taste.
