Thar Desert Salt
Description
Thar Desert Salt
Origin: Pakistan
Net volumes and weights: 50ml / 75g / 2.64oz
Table salt, ideal for Peugeot salt mill
The Thar Desert extends along the Indo-Pakistani border, it goes from the Arabian Sea to the mountains of Punjab. This salt is a fossilized salt, in this region which once was entirely covered by the oceans. Found in the region are
natural salt deposits rich in minerals. Also, veins of brackish water flow beneath the Thar Desert, which are directly fed by the Arabian Sea. AT
in some places, the water rises to the surface and forms small salt lakes. During the dry season, with temperatures reaching 50 degrees, most of these small lakes evaporate and leave naturally crystallized salt deposits. Only a few
nomadic cattle breeders live in this large barren region without industry, which makes it a very pure salt, apart from the pollutions of civilization. This fossil salt is carefully extracted then sieved and packed in a modern saltworks without further treatment, allowing it to retain all its minerality and taste richness. It is slightly greyish with a frank and marked taste, slightly acidulous.
